Brevard’s manufacturers have identified a Summer Youth Internship programs an effective way to increase awareness of high school students in manufacturing careers. This is our second year of the program and we need your support. Attached you will find the information sheet on the program. Building a talent pipeline for manufacturing jobs is essential to maintaining and growing our economy. It starts with you!
Benefits of an Internship Program:
- Help expose students to the manufacturing workplace environment
- Helps students determine where they will best fit in the industry workforce
- Provides a “no obligation” period for employers and students to determine if the match is a good fit for both
- Offers help at low cost and for short, temporary period
- Supports the overall development of the next generation manufacturing workforce
The success of the program depends on business participation. We have students at every high school in the county interested in learning about potential careers in manufacturing. Additionally there are 140 students enrolled in the new Bayside High School Manufacturing Academy who need real life experience. A summer intern may be a future employee of your company! Ensure your future by sponsoring a student for the summer. Several of our graduating interns have been offered employment after the summer program. Employer sponsorships accepted until March 5, 2018
Businesses pay CareerSource Brevard a sponsorship fee to cover payroll costs and we manage payroll through Manpower, our partner staffing agency.
*Onboarding paperwork, payroll administration and liability coverage will be administered through CareerSource Brevard and a our parntner staffing agency. Interns will receive career readiness, soft-skills training, background checks and drug testing prior to internship start.
