Who We Are

The Brevard Healthcare Workforce Consortium is working to ensure that local healthcare industry employers have the skilled talent needed to provide the best possible healthcare for our local community. This is vital to the economy of Brevard County. Working within our community to establish and maintain talent pipelines that train local talent in healthcare-related competencies provides employment opportunities with sustainable wages or career ladders to self-sustaining wages for local workers and their families. Having a robust, quality healthcare system within Brevard County is vital for attracting new businesses as well as retaining existing companies as access to quality care is a major factor in business location. It is in everyone’s best interest who lives and works in Brevard County to ensure that local healthcare industry organizations thrive. GUIDING PRINCIPLES

With this in mind, healthcare industry representatives, educational partners, workforce development entities and other community stakeholders have come together to form the Brevard Healthcare Workforce Consortium to develop a local healthcare sector strategy to identify and implement actionable strategies to strengthen the local healthcare talent pipeline. HEALTHCARE SUPPLY AND DEMAND REPORT

The Staffing Committee addresses the recruitment and retention of talent, prioritizing skill shortages in the healthcare industry. Our current focus is the recruitment and retention of

  • Homemaker Companions, Home Health Aides, Certified Nursing Assistants and Practical Nurses
  • Experienced Registered Nurses
  • New-to-practice Registered Nurses

The Education, Training and Technology Committee focuses on the talent pipeline, keeping our trained talent in Brevard County and our training institutions staffed and equipped with current technology. We are addressing these issues

  • Current Brevard pipeline of CNAs, LPNs and RNs does not produce enough talent to fill local employer needs
  • Retention of healthcare-oriented students in Brevard County
  • Attraction of Nursing Faculty to fill vacancies
  • Alignment of classroom technology with technology required in varying environments

The Soft Skills Committee has been created to address the issue that Soft Skills are lacking in the workforce. Our goal is to increase the interpersonal skills and work readiness skills in the current workforce and future workforce.
